Photos: Organized into groups such as "the men" and "firebases." Where captions exist, you can search on a name. Use the ">" (moves one page) and ">>" (moves to beginning or end) arrows to move forward and backwards. The more detailed photos can be viewed by zooming in.

People: The first item is a list of the men who died during combat with their section of the VN Wall. This is followed by a casualty summary page. Next, we have the roster page which is a list (to date) of those who served in Charlie Company in VN. Last, we have recollections from men about their time in Charlie Company.

The Story: This is a chronological journal about Charlie Company from December 1967 to December 1971. It is derived from the battalion journals and personal recollections. "Map loc[ations]" is a spreadsheet showing the movement of the company (by grid location) over the time of the story. Some cells can be clicked to get notes of events that occurred. "Firebases" is a list of the areas including firebases that were visited by Charlie Company. "Other units / staff" are lists of those in and around Charlie Company and those supporting the company. "Maps" shows a few sections of Charlie's AO to indicate the type of terrain associated with a location.

Current Info: This will contain updates on people as well as information on reunions.

Other: This section contains misc information ranging from tactical map sheets to top news stories of 1968-1970.

Charlie, 1-506th Infantry

This site follows the work begun in 2000 by Mark Hendrickson to create a web site for members of Charlie Company who served in Viet Nam, 1967 to 1972. As a result of Mark's work, many veterans of the company were able to reach each other and connect by phone, email, and personally at reunions.

The content for this site comes from Charlie Company members and from military records at the National Archives. Many men have lent their photos, 35mm slides, and filmstrip negatives for copying - many of which are found in the "Photos" section of this site. New photos are always welcome. While this site was developed for Charlie Company members, it is also intended to be an information source for family and friends of Charlie Company and the public at large. Understanding the Viet Nam war is useful in analyzing current wars as the fundamental components are similar or identical.
